Protein Shake Marshmallow Mousse
Drinking a protein shake is great but… have you tried biting into one?!
Easily turn your favorite ready to drink protein shake into a solid marshmallow-like mousse with one single ingredient: gelatin! Plus, this secret ingredient delivers collagen specific amino acids for an extra boost to your protein snack.
Feel free to get creative with flavors and mix-ins. Graham cracker and chocolate syrup? You’ve got a s’mores bowl! Banana slices and ‘nilla wafers? Banana cream pie bowl! The possibilities are endless.

Ingredients
Directions
- Pour protein shake into a sauce pan and sprinkle gelatin on top. Allow this to sit (not heated) for 5-10 minutes to “bloom” (i.e. rehydrate)
- Gently heat on low and whisk until the gelatine is fully dissolved (5-10 minutes)
- Pour mixture into a stand mixer (or large bowl) and allow to cool for 10 minutes. Using the whisk attachment (may also use beaters if no stand mixer is available) and beat on high until soft peaks form and it doubles in size (be careful not to over mix or it’ll become gummy!) This will take ~5-8 minutes.
- Pour it into a large container or bowl (may also use a pan if you plan to cut it into squares) Optional: spray with non-stick spray before hand to ensure no sticking. (I’ve forgotten and it works still)
- Refrigerate for 1-2 hours until set. Dress it up with any toppings you wish and enjoy!
Notes
- You can change the consistency to fit your liking by changing either the amount of gelatin used (use less, ~2 tsp for a more whippy less firm result) or reducing the time beaten/size at the end.
- Eating with peanut butter gives you a nice protein + fat “fluffernutter” vibes
- Try adding in your favorite cereal or granola for carbs and crunch, an extra feel-full snack!
- It does make a large serving volume wise. Try enjoying half with mix-ins to make it more filling (a mix of macronutrients since this is mainly protein) if it feels large.
